What is the VIA?
When we prepare your Personal Income Tax Return (Inkomstenbelasting), we automatically request the necessary authorizations on your behalf (in addition to requesting a filing extension).
The most important authorization is the VIA, which stands for Pre-Completed Tax Return. We request a continuous authorization (for you and/or your fiscal partner) and, if necessary, a specific authorization for a particular tax year (for example, because the continuous authorization system is relatively new or the continuous authorization is not yet active).
The Belastingdienst automatically pre-fills information received from third parties, such as:
Income: Salary, pension, or benefits.
Bank balances and debts: Current and savings account balances, as well as mortgage information.
Real estate: The WOZ value of your home.
Please note that the pre-completed data provided by the Belastingdienst is not always up to date or 100% complete. In addition, specific deductions (such as healthcare expenses, charitable donations, or study costs) are generally not included.
As an entrepreneur, you remain responsible for the accuracy of your final income tax return. Since we not only want to file a correct return but also the most tax-efficient one, we carefully verify all information. This means we compare the VIA with the documents you provide to us.
OPTION 1 – Activate the authorization | Send us the authorization containing the QR code
To access your VIA, you need to authorize us. This is by far the easiest method.
As soon as you become a client, we request several authorizations:
For the current tax year
A continuous authorization (VIA and SBA)
For both you and your fiscal partner (if applicable)
The Belastingdienst will send you a separate letter for each authorization request. Each letter contains an activation code that we need.
You do not need to send anything by post. You can activate the authorization directly through our portal. If you have trouble doing so, simply email us a photo, scan, or copy of the letter at [email protected].
Please do NOT send us:
The code used to reject or revoke an authorization. That code is intended for your use only. It is easy to recognize because it appears in a box with a bold border. You can revoke authorizations for your previous accountant or for us at any time through the Logius portal.
Didn't receive the activation code, lost it, or missed the deadline?
If:
You have not received the blue letter within two weeks,
You have lost the letter, or
The activation period has expired,
please contact your Bookies to check whether there is still enough time to request a new authorization code.
Activating the VIA through the authorization process is the easiest and least error-prone option.
If there is no longer enough time, we can use an alternative method.
OPTION 2 – Manual method | Download the VIA from Mijn Belastingdienst
If something went wrong in the authorization process and your tax return is nearly ready, you can also provide us with the VIA manually. This only takes about two minutes, as you simply click through a few screens.
Go to https://www.belastingdienst.nl and log in to Mijn Belastingdienst using your DigiD.
Under Income Tax (Inkomstenbelasting), select the correct tax year.
Click File Income Tax Return (Aangifte Inkomstenbelasting doen).
You will arrive at an empty tax return form. Don't worry—we can still prepare your tax return. This step is simply part of the authorization process.
You do not need to enter our BECON number (although it is 671757).
Continue clicking Next until you reach the section called Pre-Completed Data (Vooraf Ingevulde Gegevens). You should only see questions about your personal details and a fiscal partner. You may answer 0 or No to all of these questions. We do not use this tax return; we only want to access the information already available to the Belastingdienst.
When you reach the pre-completed data section, you will see a message titled Vooraf ingevulde aangifte - [Your Name] (Pre-Completed Data) Click View.
You will now see a screen titled Vooraf ingevulde aangifte of [Your Name]. On the right-hand side, click Print.
A print preview window will open. In the top-left corner, under Destination, select Save as PDF.
The blue button will change from Print to Save. Save the document using a recognizable filename. For example: VIA [Your Name].pdf
Important
You do not need to submit the tax return yourself.
The purpose of this process is only to download and share the Pre-Completed Tax Return (VIA) with us so that we can prepare and file your income tax return correctly.
